Grau Baume, Douro, Portugal
Husband and wife team Hugo Mateus and Ana Hespanhol make wines at Ana’s family estate Quinta do Zimbro in the Douro. They created Grau Baume in 2008 as their independent wine brand to create more natural wines at their own pace and with complete freedom. With less pressure and more time to experiment, the results are spectacular.

WINES THAT GO BEST
WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Farming is organic but uncertified and grapes come from within the Douro DOC. They farm around 13 hectares of land. The grapes for their red wines
are all estate grown and the white grapes are sourced from local growers
committed to responsible and sustainable farming.
The estate grown red grapes are selected from vines around 50 years old and the white grapes from vines aged 10-30 years. The project is committed to the philosophy of capturing the multi-personalities of the Douro region into their different wines.
As Hugo and Ana would say… “these wines go best with family and friends!”
